"We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect."
--Anaïs Nin
As a family historian, storytelling is priceless.
Photographs and birth records are an incredible resource to have, but they don’t tell the complete story.
We are left wondering about the details of our ancestors lives. Just imagine stumbling on an old journal tucked away in a box that belonged to your grandfather — a true treasure to a family historian. Open it up and you will see that he can speak to you. He will tell you about his day, his family, his job. He might tell you about the weather or the meal that your grandmother cooked that night. You will have the opportunity to get to know him, the way he communicated, and learn some of his funny idiosyncrasies.
I started writing when I was young, and I have the boxes of journals to prove it (you’re welcome, future great grandchildren). It came naturally to me, as I grew up in a household of writers. I had the most incredible copy mentor on the planet, my father, Jack Anderson. I would take my work into his office and he would teach me how to craft and edit my stories. His colleagues and employees were also generous with their time and expertise that way. When I had my own children, I passed the practice down.
After a lifetime of writing screen plays and stories as somewhat of a hobby, I finally pitched my work. I am proud and honored to say that I became a published author in 2019 through Meridian Magazine.
I will help you tell your story.
